OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards of a road milling machine. a) Priscilla Drive and S. Scott Streets, Middletown DE - On or about December 1, 2016, two employees were exposed to crushing hazards while working in the danger zone of an operating Wirtgen W2000 Road Milling machine. An employees foot was crushed while he was lubricating an operating machine and the machine was driven forward. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct these hazards is to follow the manufacturers operating, service, and maintenance instructions in the Wirtgen W2000 Instruction Manual including, but not limited to, a) danger and warning statements ensuring personnel are not located within danger zones during machine operation and b) ensuring the engine is off and the machine is stationary during lubrication work as outlined in Section 3.70.01 of the manual.
