On or about January 25, 2017, employees performing residential siding installation were exposed to struck by hazards when employees worked on two different levels when the employer failed to mandate the use of hard hats. 29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation.    On or about January 25, 2017, employees were exposed to eye injuries while using a pneumatic nail gun when the employer failed to ensure employees utilized appropriate eye or face protection. 29 CFR 1926.451(f)(7): Scaffolds shall be erected, moved, dismantled, or altered only under the supervision and direction of a competent person qualified in scaffold erection, moving, dismantling or alteration. Such activities shall be performed only by experienced and trained employees selected for such work by the competent person.    On or about January 25, 2017, employees conducting residential siding installation from a ladder jack scaffold were exposed to a fall hazard of 21.4' when the employer failed to ensure the scaffold was erected under the supervision and direction of a competent person qualified in scaffold erection, moving, dismantling or alteration.      Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1926.454(a): The employer shall have each employee who performs work while on a scaffold trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards. The training shall include the following areas, as applicable:    On or about January 25, 2017, employees performing siding installation at a residential property were exposed to a fall hazard of 21.4' when the employer failed to ensure they were adequately trained to recognize and minimize the hazards associated with fall while working from a scaffold.    Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
