29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: At 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, MO, specifically inside of the Plastic Strip Department, the circular, fixed, barrier guard belonging to the Injection Molded Plastic Collator, m/n PS160, was not secured in place. This violation was observed on 03/31/17. At 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, MO, specifically inside of the Plastic Strip Department, the ten straightening rollers attached to the Feed Roller Unit belonging to the ENKOTEC Machines were unguarded. Employee(s) were exposed to an in-going nip point hazard. This violation was observed on 03/31/17. At 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, MO, specifically inside of the Plastic Strip Department, the rotating spools of wire were unguarded. These spools of wire were positioned in designated aisleways and in close proximity to the ENKOTEC Machines. This violation was observed on 03/31/17. Mid Continent Steel and Wire Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 901373, citation 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 05/17/13, with respect to a workplace located at 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
