29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.  Mid-Continent Steel and Wire located at 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, Missouri 63901.  (a) On or about November 9, 2021, specifically inside the Plastic Strip Department, employees were exposed to caught-in hazards on machines such as, but not limited to, an Magnum Plastic Strip Collator conveyor motor (Model CM34D25NZ55B S/N: M1135110.00).  A belt that exposed workers to caught-in hazards was not fully guarded.    (b) On or about November 9, 2021, specifically inside the Plastic Strip Department, employees were exposed to caught-in hazards on machines such as, but not limited to, an Magnum Plastic Strip Collator Dorn conveyor where nails were entering into the conveyor systems creating an ingoing nip-point hazard and one or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area.   Mid-Continent Steel and Wire was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection 1220918, citation number 1, Item 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 5/10/2017, with respect to a workplace located at 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.  Mid-Continent Steel and Wire was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or it equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection 1461639, citation number 2, Item 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 6/3/2020, with respect to a workplace located at 2700 Central Avenue, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
