29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section except when: On or about July 11, 2017, during the replacement of a storm sewer line at approximately 3875 Massillon Road, Uniontown, Ohio, the employer did not ensure an employee working inside a trench, with a depth of approximately 7.5 feet and near 90 degree vertical walls, was protected from cave-ins by an adequately designed protection system. The soil would have been classified as; Cohesive Soil, type B .
