OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to flash burn hazards while operating a special processing atmosphere oven without first verifying that adequate engineering controls where in place that would minimize the infiltration of air into the atmosphere, and that would reduce the potential for injury in the event that the oven did backfire:    (a) Annealing Area:  On or about 11/16/17 employees operating the special processing atmosphere oven designated as "Furnace 3000" were exposed to the hazard of flash burns when the oven was put back into service following repairs without proper verification of the oven's safety controls, including adequate reduction of air from entering the oven's atmosphere and causing backfires that could harm the employees.
