29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: A.) Jenidas, Inc. dba Gene Davis Sales & Service, 1119 Payne Avenue, Erie, PA 16503, building #1, on or about January 18, 2018 and times prior thereto: Employees operate a Niagara Hydraulic Squaring Shear (M/N: IF-12-1/4, S/N: 63604) to cut metal sheet stock. The guard contained seven-inch wide gaps that would allow for employee hands to access into the hold down / shear area of the machine. Jenidas, Inc. dba Gene Davis Sales & Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 941711, citation number 1, item number 3-a and was affirmed as a final order on April 4, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 1119 Payne Avenue, Erie, PA 16503.
