29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section. a. At the construction site located near 120 Black Raven Court, Pickerington, Ohio, employees were performing work in an approximately 10 feet deep excavation without adequate cave-in protection, thereby exposing employees to a struck-by / crushing hazard. Zarley, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.652(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1010587, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on January 23, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 7648 Rickenbacker Parkway West, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137.
