29 CFR 1926.701(b): Reinforcing steel. All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and into which employees could fall, shall be guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement. (a) Bridge - On or about March 2, 2018 employees were exposed to an impalement hazard walking above rebar between 24 to 34 inches long. One employee stepped on top of uncapped rebar in order to climb the ledge of the bridge. The employer did not guard protruding reinforced steel.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) Bridge - On or about March 2, 2018 employees were exposed to a fall hazard while walking on a concrete beam 10 feet 3 inches directly above water and large rocks with no fall protection. TANNER CONSTRUCTION WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD 29 CFR 1926.501(B)(1) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 922301 CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 2, ISSUED ON JULY 31, 2013 WITH A FINAL ORDER DATE OF AUGUST 22, 2013 WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT LITTLE BILOXI RIVER BRIDGE, HWY 49 S. SAUCIER, MS 39574.
