29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): Employees were exposed to cave-in hazards due to the angle of repose on the east wall of the excavation was 52.4 degrees in Type B soil, and was not less than 45 degrees in accordance with Subpart P Appendix B. Stutz Excavating, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1140228, citation number 01, item number 01 and was affirmed as a final order on 4-27-16, with respect to a workplace located at Johnson and College Streets in Alton, Illinois.
