OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and/or crushing hazards: On or about August 9, 2018, an employee was working within six feet of the swing radius of the Somero SXP Laser Screed. Among other feasible and acceptable abatement methods are: (1) training employees to stay at least six feet from the laser screed while the laser screed is in operation; and (2) the installation and use of mirrors on the laser screed to allow the laser screed operator to observe the area behind and around the machine's counterweight.
