29 CFR 1926.451(g)(4)(i): Guardrail systems shall be installed along all open sides and ends of platforms. Guardrail systems shall be installed before the scaffold is released for use by employees other than erection/dismantling crews. On or about September 12, 2018, employees performing masonry installation from a scaffold were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 21.3 feet when the employer failed to ensure that an end-rail was installed. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(4)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1209441, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on April 28, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 430 N. Quincy Ave., Hinsdale, Illinois 60521. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
