29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle:       (a)   Pay and Save, Inc. dba Lowe's Mercado #118 at 1320 S. Federal Boulevard, Denver, CO 80219:  On November 19, 2018, the employer did not ensure that the unused portion of the reciprocating blade on the Hobart 6801 Meat Saw vertical band saw was guarded.  An employee sustained a finger amputation injury while using the saw.  This condition exposed the employee to an amputation hazard.        (b)  Pay and Save, Inc. dba Lowe's Mercado #118 at 1320 S. Federal Boulevard, Denver, CO 80219:  On and before November 19, 2018, the employer did not ensure that the unused portion of the reciprocating blade on the Hobart 6801 Meat Saw vertical band saw was guarded.  Employees use the saw to cut beef feet.  This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1):  The employer had not developed or implemented a written hazard communication program included the requirements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(i) and (e)(1)(ii):     (a)   Pay and Save, Inc. dba Lowe's Mercado #118 at 1320 S. Federal Boulevard, Denver, CO 80219:  On or before November 19, 2018, the employer did not develop and implement a written hazard communication program that pertains to employee use of chemicals such as, but not limited to sanitizer and ammonia from the refrigeration system.  This condition potentially exposed employees to chemical hazards.

Federal Boulevard, Denver, CO 80219:  On or before November 19, 2018, the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment.  Employees were wearing gloves for cold protection and slip resistant closed toed shoes. This condition potentially exposed employees to chemical, physical, and other hazards.
