An employee engaged in welding, sanding and grinding activities on heavy gauge metal tanks was exposed to respiratory hazards from Iron Oxide fumes in that the employee had an 8 hour time weighted average (TWA) of 19.8347 mg/cubic meter, which is 1.9 times the calculated OSHA permissible exposure level (PEL) of 10 mg/cubic meter.
