29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): 29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open sided floor(s) or platform(s) 4 feet or more above the adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded by standard railings (or the equivalent as specified in 29 CFR 1910.23(e)(3)(i) through (v)), on all open sides: During die cast operations, employees were not adequately protected from a fall hazard when climbing on a die to perform work, such as, but not limited to, checking or replacing a go-switch, checking core wires, or checking hot water or hydraulic lines. A fall hazard exists from the top of the die to the 19" wide portable platform, to the bottom of the catch pan below, or to the work platform to the sides of the die. Abatement documentation is required for this violation.
