Employees of F & E Framing, Inc were exposed to fall hazards of up to 12 feet while engaged in residential framing activities with no fall protection in place. 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to upper landing surfaces, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access: (a) On or about June 1, 2019, the employer did not ensure that portable ladders, used to access upper landing surfaces, extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access. Framers were observed descending a ladder from the top plate. Ladder did not extend at least 3 ft above the top plate and was not tied to the structure exposing workers to fall hazards of up to 12 feet. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
