On or about July 22, 2019, in the West Permanent Mold area, the 115E1948 sand molds and clamps were staged on the floor for pouring in a manner that would not allow the employees to safely walk around and between the other sand molds while carrying a hand ladle containing hot aluminum exposing employees to burns.

29 CFR 1910.132(a): Application. Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, shall be provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact.    On or about July 22, 2019, in the West Permanent Mold area, employees only utilized basic protection and spat when performing pouring of molten aluminum activities exposing employees to burn hazard.  For employees in a hazardous zone (such as near a furnace or ladle containing molten metal) addition application specific clothing and ppe is required.  Options include, but not limit:  coats, jackets, aprons, cape, sleeve(s) and bib, leggings, and chaps.
