Employees operated equipment including, but not limited to, the skute automated nail gun and the compacters, and were not trained as affected employees on lockout tagout. This condition exposed employees to caught in-between and puncture hazards.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, flying chips and sparks: a) Sealy Mattress Manufacturing Company, LLC dba Tempur Sealy, at 12555 E 39th Ave, Denver, CO 80239: On and before September 5, 2019, the employer did not ensure that desktop sewing machines were adequately guarded. Employees guided product towards and under the sewing machine needles for stitching, and no guard was in place around the needle to protect employees from the reciprocating needles. This condition exposed employees to point of operation and puncture hazards. b) Sealy Mattress Manufacturing Company, LLC dba Tempur Sealy, at 12555 E 39th Ave, Denver, CO 80239: On and before September 5, 2019, the employer did not ensure that the F2 sewing machine was adequately guarded. Employees operated the F2 sewing machine with reciprocating needles, and the needles were not guarded to protect the employees from point of operation and puncture hazards.
