29 CFR 1910.178(q)(1): Any power-operated industrial truck not in safe operating condition was not taken out of service, and/or repairs were not made by authorized personnel:      Loading Dock:  The employer did not remove the Toyota In Charger Model electric pallet jack from service that was found in operation with a battery cable having exposed copper wiring.   Employees were operating the pallet jack to transport metal bins containing parcels. Employees were exposed to electrical shock and/or mechanical failure hazards.    The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1153914, citation number 1 , item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 09/02/2016, with respect to a workplace located at Las Vegas, Nevada.

29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): All places of employment, passageways, storerooms, and service rooms were not kept clean and orderly and in a sanitary condition.    West Storage/Communication room: The room had material overhanging on racks, boxes and mail carts covering most of the floor and in close proximity to electrical equipment.  The employer did not keep the room orderly to allow use of storage racks. Employees were exposed to slips, trips, falls, strain, sprain, and lacerations hazards.      The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1414698, citation number 1 , item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/15/2019, with respect to a workplace located at Sylacauga, Alabama.

Listed or labeled equipment was not installed and used in accordance with any instructions included in the listing or labeling.     a) Conference/Break Room: The microwave and fridge were plugged into a surge protector and not plugged directly into the wall outlet.      b) Overflow Room: The coffee maker was plugged into a surge protector and not directly plugged into the wall outlet.    The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1168474, citation number 1 , item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/07/2016, with respect to a workplace located at Durham, North Carolina.
