29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about 10/15/2019, on the Monarch VMC 45, employees were exposed to caught in hazard, due to doors not having a guarding method such as but not limited to barrier guards or electronic safety devices that would stop the CNC machine from operating when the doors where opened.

29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning. Compressed air shall not be used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment. a) On or about 10/15/2019 the employer did not properly reduce the PSI for the compressed air utilized by employees for the cleaning of themselves or equipment exposing employees to hazards associated with compressed air measured at greater than 30 PS1. Test locations as follows: Test location #1 was at the Super Slant Lathe, it measured at 70 PSI. Test location #2 was at the Quick Turn Universal 250 MS, it measured at 90 PSI.
