29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. At the commercial construction site located at 6743 W. 135th St. in Overland Park, Kansas: Employees were exposed to a fall hazard. Employees loading and unloading sheet rock from unfinished balconies on the third and fifth floors were not protected from falling. The fall distance from each balcony was estimated to be 30 feet from the third story and 50 feet from the fifth.
