29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where (a) portable ladder(s) was/were used for access to an upper level landing surface and the ladder's length did not allow the ladder side rails to extend at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed, the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect, and/or a grasping device was not provided to assist employees in mounting and dismounting the ladder.      (a) Location - 23 Henry Street, Everett, MA:    On or about 08/03/2020, the ladder used to gain access to the awning over the front door of a single family home did not extend at least three feet past the edge of the awning. This ladder was not long enough to have done so, and was not secured at the top, nor was a grasping device provided.    29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed:    (b) Location - 23 Henry Street, Everett, MA:    On or about 08/03/2020, the ladder used to gain access to the highest part of the roof of a single family home did not extend at least three feet past the edge of the roof. This ladder was long enough to have done so.
