Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. On or about October 20, 2020, at the jobsite located at 725 Blue Harbor Dr Sheboygan, WI, two employees were exposed to fall hazards of more than 44' without being protected from falling by a conventional form of fall protection. The employees were replacing shingles on the steep slope roof of a four-story hotel. b, On or about October 20, 2020, at the jobsite located at 725 Blue Harbor Dr Sheboygan, WI, two employees were exposed to fall hazards of more than 44' without being protected from falling by a conventional form of fall protection. Employees were transporting roofing materials from a staging area to the work zone.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. On or about October 20, 2020, the employer did not provide a training program for employees exposed to fall hazards. Employees were replacing shingles on the steep slope roof of a four-story hotel more than 44' above ground level.
