29 CFR 1928.57(a)(8)(i): Guards used to provide the protection required by this section were not designed and located to protect against inadvertent contact with the hazard being guarded: a0 Opal Foods, LLC at 9575 Weld County Road 73, Roggen, Colorado 80652: On or about November 22, 2020, the employer did not ensure that guards were designed and located to protect against inadvertent contact with the hazard being guarded. A pulley and belt pulling a scraper across the hen house to clean droppings off the floor was not fully guarded where possible. A temporary employee was cleaning the area of debris and contacted the pulley and belt inadvertently, resulting in a fingertip amputation. This condition exposed employees to laceration and amputation hazards.
