29 CFR 1910.176(b): Secure storage. Storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse: a) On or about March 19, 2021 in the northeast corner of the building, the employer did not ensure that raw material containers stored on two to five tiered metal industrial storage racking were secured from displacement when loaded or unloaded by forklifts, exposing employees to potential struck-by and/or crushing hazards. The storage rack uprights were not secured to the concrete floor as multiple anchor bolts were missing and/or the locking nuts were not tightened down onto the baseplate(s). b) On or about March 19, 2021 in the northeast corner of the building, the employer did not ensure raw material containers stored on a two to three tiered metal industrial storage rack were secured form displacement when loaded or unloaded by forklifts, exposing employees to potential struck-by and/or crushing hazards. The storage rack upright on the corner of the forklift pass-through was not plumb and was bent approximately 0.75 inches inward.
