YOUTU Kitchen: Employees such as Cooks were exposed to amputation-related hazards because the employer did not assess the workplace to determine the use of proper hand protection. On March 31, 2021, an employee had the tip of their finger amputated while using a serrated knife without wearing cut-resistant gloves.

29 CFR 1910.138(a): Employers did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. YOUYU Kitchen: Employees such as Cooks were exposed to amputation-related hazards because proper cut-resistant gloves were not provided. On March 31, 2021, an employee had the tip of their finger amputated while cutting limes due to the lack of proper hand protection.
