29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that all places of employment, passageways, storerooms, service rooms, and walking-working surfaces are kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition:  Edgecraft Corporation  located at 825 Southwood Rd Avondale, PA:  (a) Gluing area: On or about September 2, 2021, the employer did not ensure proper housekeeping was implemented in the gluing area. Dust containing metals such as nickel, copper, iron, and manganese was present in the area, exposing employees to health related hazards.  (b) Blasting area: On or about September 2, 2021, the employer did not ensure proper housekeeping was implemented in the blasting area. Dust containing metals such as nickel, copper, iron, manganese and chromium metal was present in the area where employees were eating, exposing them to health related hazards.

The employees are required to use corrosive materials, such as potassium hydroxide, with improper hand protection such as latex gloves, which exposes them to chemical burns.

29 CFR  1910.1200(h)(1):Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area:  Edgecraft Corporation  located at 825 Southwood Rd Avondale, PA:  (a) Plating/Blasting area- On or about September 2, 2021, the employer did not provide effective hazardous chemical training for employees engaged in plating/blasting operations and using corrosives chemicals such as but not limited to hydrochloric acid contained in Univar Hydrochloric Acid 31% and sodium hydroxide contained in Univar Caustic Soda 50%.    (b) Gluing area- On or about September 2, 2021, the employer did not provide effective hazardous chemical training for employees engaged in gluing operations and using corrosives chemicals such as potassium hydroxide contained in AK-7315 and ethyl-2cyanoacrylate contained in TS, HP Series Adhesive, which is a flammable solvent.
