29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  a) On or about September 7, 2021 the employer failed to ensure that effective guarding was in place to protect employees from the in-going nip point of the exit portion conveyors. The hazard areas where the belt meets the pulley were not guarded on the conveyors before the banding operation of the cat litter 16 line. Employees remove parts from the conveyors prior to placing them in the bander and at the final exit portion of the line.  b)  On or about September 7, 2021 the employer failed to ensure that effective guarding was in place on the Dynmark Inc. banding/ bundling machine (#1 Bundler, Cat litter 16 line). Employees place the stack of material in the machine equipped with sensors for the product placement and automatic banding occurs. Employees are exposed to the banding process and the downward motion of the machine hold down.
