29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. West end of Building No. 1- On or about September 7, 2021, the employer failed to provide effective guarding to protect employees working at the Winder Machine- Sealer #2. An employees right hand and arm was fractured while guiding the plastic material onto the cardboard tube affixed to the metal roller. Employees were thereby exposed to hazards associated with in-going nip points and rotating parts. b. West end of Building No.1- On or about September 15, 2021, the employer failed to provide effective guarding to protect employees from in-going nip points and rotating parts while operating the Winder Machine-Sealer #1. Employees were thereby exposed to hazards associated with in-going nip points and rotating parts.
