29 CFR 1910.107(c)(5): Unless specifically approved for locations containing both deposits of readily ignitable residue and explosive vapors, there shall be no electrical equipment in any spraying area, whereon deposits of combustible residues may readily accumulate, except wiring in rigid conduit or in boxes or fittings containing no taps, splices, or terminal connections. a) On or about December 21, 2021, at the facility located at 313 Appleton Street, Menasha, WI 54952, on the Spray Cell Line, the employer did not ensure that only electrical equipment approved for locations containing both deposits of readily ignitable residue and explosive vapors was present where deposits of combustible residues may readily accumulate was used in the spraying area, exposing employees to a fire hazard. Combustible residues were observed on electrical equipment, such as but not limited to, speakers and receptacle outlet.

29 CFR 1910.107(g)(2): All spraying areas shall be kept as free from the accumulation of deposits of combustible residues as practical, with cleaning conducted daily if necessary. Scrapers, spuds, or other such tools used for cleaning purposes shall be of nonsparking material. The employer did not ensure that spraying areas were kept as free from the accumulation of deposits of combustible residues as practical, exposing employees to a fire hazard in the following instances: a) On or about December 21, 2021, at the facility located at 313 Appleton Street, Menasha, WI 54952, at the Spray Cell Line, the floor in the spray area was not kept free from accumulations of deposits of combustible residues generated by overspray during spray coating operations. An accumulation of over 6 inches of combustible residue was measured on the back wall inside of the spray booth. b) On or about April 27, 2022, at the facility located at 320 Appleton Street, Menasha, WI 54952, at the East Line Powder Booth, the floor and equipment in the spray area was not kept free from accumulations of deposits of combustible residues generated by overspray during powder and spray coating operations.
