Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that they were exposed to the amputation and struck-by hazards when using a cut-off machine:  a) On or about July 25, 2022, employees were exposed to the hazard of contacting a rotating cutting blade and being struck-by thrown objects, due to reactive forces, including kickback, where a carbide-tip toothed saw blade was provided and used with a Stihl TS 420 cut-off machine.   Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to comply with the manufacturer's safe use requirements prescribed in the product instruction and safety manuals. Only diamond and composite abrasive wheels are compatible for safe use on Stihl TS 420 cut-off machine.   No abatement certification or documentation required for this violation.
