OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees  On or about October 12, 2022, the employer did not ensure employees were protected from struck-by hazards while operating overhead floor-operated cranes and jib cranes with below-the-hook lifting devices, such as manually operated lifting magnets, without the rated load of lifting devices legibly marked.     According to ASME B30.20-2021; Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices, Safety Standard for Cableways, Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Hooks, Jacks, and Slings; Chapter 20.3 Close Proximity Operated Lifting Magnets; SECTION 20-3.2: MARKING, CONSTRUCTION, AND INSTALLATION, 20-3.2.1 Marking, (a) Rated Load, (1) General Application Lifting Magnets.  The rated load of the lifting magnet shall be legibly marked on the lifting magnet or on a tag attached to the lifting magnet where it is visible.  This marking shall refer to the instruction manual for information relating to decreases in rating due to the load surface condition, thickness, percentage of contact with the lifting magnet, temperature, metallurgical composition, and deflection.

According to ASME B30.17-2006 Overhead and Gantry Cranes (Top Running Bridge, Single Girder, Underhung Hoist); SECTION 17-2.3: MAINTENANCE, 17-2.3.3 Adjustments, Repairs, and Replacements; (d)(4) Controller function labels on pendant control stations or master switches shall be kept legible.
