29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Reference: ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment. NEX: Janitor closet: On and before October 19, 2022, and at times prior to, an employee handled corrosive chemical materials such as Clorox Bleach where an emergency eye wash station in close proximity for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes was missing. The employer had not provided an eye wash station in the immediate vicinity resulting in the employee being potentially exposed to severe eye burns or blindness. The Navy Exchange - Naval Air Weapons Station was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (1910.151(c)) contained in OSHA inspection number 1241525, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 01.04.2018, with respect to a workplace located at Naval Air Weapons Station Navy Exchange.

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(10): The employer did not ensure that workplace labels or other forms of warnings were prominently displayed on the container or readily available in the work area throughout each work shift: Retail Store: On or about October 19, 2022, and times prior, an employee used an unlabeled secondary container to hold an amber colored chemical that was used during store cleaning procedures. The employer did not ensure containers had prominently displayed labels showing chemical name, associated hazards, and warnings. The employees were exposed to eye burns.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(1): Employers did not have a safety data sheet in the workplace for each hazardous chemical which they use: Retail Store and Barber Shop: On and before October 19, 2022, and at times prior to, employees used chemicals such as Diversey TB Cleaner and Clipper Equipment Lube Oil without safety data sheets being available onsite. The employer did not provide safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical used. The employees were potentially exposed to dermal and eye damage.
