29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16)(iii): Personal fall arrest systems, when stopping a fall, were not rigged such that an employee could not free fall more than 6 feet (1.8 m) nor contact any lower level: a- Building 1000, Mount Laurel NJ: Workers performing floor joist installation and other related activities were not protected from falling when walking and working from the top plates of a structure's first floor wall frames while wearing full body harnesses attached to lanyards whose lengths exceeded the fall distance to the concrete flooring below. As such, these workers were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 9 feet 1 inch to the concrete flooring below. Condition observed on or about 01/05/23. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2): The employer did not assure that each employee exposed to fall hazards was trained by a competent person qualified in the areas specified in 29 CFR 1926.503 (a)(2)(i) through (viii) a - Building 1000, Mount Laurel NJ: Workerswalking and working from the top plates of a structure's first floor wall frames were not trained on fall protection means and methods as specified in 29 CFR 1926.503 (a)(2)(i) through (viii). These workers were exposed to fall hazards, up to and in excess of 9 feet 1 inch, while wearing full body harnesses attached to lanyards whose lengths exceeeded the fall distance to the concrete flooring below.
