OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employee were exposed to dust deflagration, explosion, or other fire hazard:  a) Mack Studios, Inc., 5500 Technology Park Blvd, Auburn NY, 13021.  On or about 1/25/2023, employees engaged in wood working operations on the Thermowood Corporation CNC Wood Router C4251540803, its  associated ductwork, and the Dust Technology (aka Dustek) DT-75 23081520 enclosureless dust collection system, were exposed to fire and explosion hazards, from accumulations of explosive wood dusts during wood routing operations.  The wood dust was collected to determine explosivity. Test results show that the sampled dust is a combustible Class II dust, and is explosive, with a Kst of 10.13 bar*meters/second. The explosion severity of 0.68 is above 0.5.  b) Mack Studios, Inc., 5500 Technology Park Blvd, Auburn NY, 13021.  On or about 1/25/2023, employees engaged in wood working operations on the Thermowood Corporation CNC Wood Router C4250500799, its associated ductwork, and the Dustek M1000-99-196 enclosureless dust collection system, were exposed to fire and explosion hazards, from accumulations of explosive wood dusts during wood routing operations.  The wood dust was collected to determine explosivity. Test results show that the sampled dust is a combustible Class II dust, and is explosive, with a Kst of 11.09 bar*meters/second. The explosion severity of 0.90 is above 0.5.  c) Mack Studios, Inc., 5500 Technology Park Blvd, Auburn NY, 13021.  On or about 1/25/2023, employees engaged in wood working operations on the Olimpick Edge Bander k 600 AH/117427, its associated ductwork and the Dustek  C1000-14-116 enclosureless dust collection system, were exposed to fire and explosion hazards, from accumulations of explosive wood dusts during wood banding operations.  The wood dust was collected to determine explosivity. Test results show that the sampled dust is a combustible Class II dust, and is explosive, with a Kst of 1.26 bar*meters/second. The explosion severity of 1.37 is above 0.5.
