29 CFR  1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Reference: ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment.  High Desert Inn: On or before January 24, 2023, employees handled corrosive chemical(s) such Ecolab Facilipro Concentrated Multi-Purpose Degreaser while conducting housekeeping tasks. Employer had the following:   (a) Building 5602, housekeeping room: Wall mounted eye wash station was blocked from direct access by a door and a container.    (b) Building 5603, housekeeping room: Wall mounted eye wash station was blocked from direct access by two containers and a door.   This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to eye redness, swelling, and/or corneal abrasion.

Building 5602, Front Desk Area: On or before January 24, 2023, an employee conducted cleaning and disinfecting tasks at the front desk area with Handy Clean Steridol Wipes. Employer did not ensure the clear ziplock bag containing the wipes was properly labeled with appropriate warning labels. Employee(s) were exposed to skin reddening, itchiness, blister and/or contact dermatitis.
