OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to fall hazards while applying/rolling out tarps on top of the cages: On or about March 15, 2023, employees were exposed to the hazards of falling greater than 8 feet to the ground while applying/rolling tarps on the top of the cages. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Follow ANSI/ASSP Z359.2-2017, Minimum Requirements for a Comprehensive Managed Fall Protection Program, Part of the Fall Protection Code, to eliminate and control fall hazards by establishing the fall hazard hierarchy of controls to mitigate fall hazards by: - Preventing or eliminating exposure to falls, by providing commercially available tarping system, aerial lifts, scissor lifts and/or ladders to use while covering cages. - Providing a physical barrier between the authorized person and fall hazards. - Providing equipment assembled in such manner that the authorized person cannot fall. - Providing personal fall arrest system (PFAS).
