29 CFR 1910.29(f)(3): 29 CFR 1910.29(f)(3): Surfaces. The employer did not ensure that handrails and stair rail systems are smooth-surfaced to protect employees from injury, such as punctures or lacerations, and to prevent catching or snagging of clothing. On or about April 5, 2023, employees engaged in oil and gas production activities were exposed to caught-in hazard due to the employer not ensuring the top rail of the staircase had a smooth-surface. Top rail of staircase was broken and bent.
