OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1) The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to scalding liquid and chemical burns from black liquor released from process piping: a. On or about April 10, 2023, near the 300-P-007 pump, a proxy operations supervisor was exposed to hot liquid from inadvertent release of black liquor from process piping in that a Jamesbury ball valve controlling release of the black liquor from a drain line was installed upended. The slide lock on the valve handle was not engaged which secures the handle in the closed position to prevent accidental releases.
