1910.176(c) Housekeeping. Storage areas shall be kept free from accumulation of materials that constitute hazards from tripping, fire, explosion, or pest harborage. Vegetation control will be exercised when necessary. 29 CFR 1910.176(b): Secure storage. Storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse. a) On or about April 20, 2023, the employer did not ensure that the boxes, containing appliance replacement parts, in the parts department were properly stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height, exposing employees to struck by hazards.

29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service, and shall not be placed in service if the examination shows any condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. Such examination shall be made at least daily. Where industrial trucks are used on a round-the-clock basis, they shall be examined after each shift. Defects when found shall be immediately reported and corrected. a) On or about April 20, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees were conducting the clamp truck inspections prior to the shift operation of the two clamp trucks at the location.
