General-duty citation text
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8m) or more above lower levels were not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. At a worksite at 101 S Dean Ave, Raymore, MO 64083: Some subcontractor workers were exposed to fall hazards while working on a steep roof. This was last demonstrated on or about June 29, 2023, when workers were engaged in roofing activities of a residential building. In this instance, some subcontract workers placing roof decking were wearing safety harnesses, but did not connect their lanyards to safety lines that were made available to them for their use. Thus, these specific workers were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 30 feet from the eve of the steep roof to the ground below. No guard rails, safety net system(s), or personal fall arrest system(s) were utilized to prevent falls for those workers who wore safety harnesses but not properly connect their lanyard to the available safety lines.
