29 CFR 1910.29(b)(5): The employer did not ensure that guardrails met the requirement that midrails, screens, mesh, intermediate vertical members, solid panels, and other equivalent intermediate members are capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 150 pounds (667 N) applied in any downward or outward direction at any point along the intermediate member. Pit Area: On or about July 11, 2023, the employer did not ensure the vertical member of the guard rail system was capable of withstanding at least 150 pounds when the intermediate member collapsed under the weight of a worker who fell and suffered a broken hand, hip, and rib.
