Castle Canning LLC. 517 Vine Avenue Sharon, PA 16146, Shop Area: On or about 07/20/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were designated to perform servicing and maintenance on equipment including, but not limited to, the Douglas machine.  Authorized employees did not receive workplace specific training to include the items required by the standard.

Castle Canning LLC. 517 Vine Avenue Sharon, PA 16146, Shop Area: On or about 07/20/2023 and at times prior thereto,  Two maintenance employees were designated to perform servicing and maintenance on equipment including, but not limited to, the Douglas Machine (serial #M-2881) in the Labeling and Packaging Area. Only one maintenance employee applied a lockout tagout lock and tag.

29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  a) Castle Canning LLC. 517 Vine Avenue Sharon, PA 16146, Shop Area: On or about 07/20/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were working at and around the Douglas machine (serial #M-2881) in the labeling and packaging area which did not have effective machine guarding in place to prevent employees from contacting moving parts. The moving parts included, but were not limited to, chain, sprocket, and associated linkage.  Multiple guards were not closed or were missing while in operation.   b) Castle Canning LLC. 517 Vine Avenue Sharon, PA 16146, Shop Area: On or about 07/20/2023 and at times prior thereto, employees were working at and around the Angelis 100L Seamer machine (serial #8599873) which did not have effective machine guarding in place to prevent employees from contacting moving parts. The moving parts included, but were not limited to, chain, sprocket, and associated linkage.

29 CFR  1910.28(b)(1)(i): Except as provided elsewhere in this section 29 CFR 1910.28, the employer did not ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that is 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level is protected from falling by one or more of the systems described in 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i):  a) Castle Canning LLC. 517 Vine Avenue Sharon, PA 16146, Water Kettle Cooking Area: On or about 07/20/2023 and at times prior thereto; employees were exposed to 4-foot 3-inch fall injuries when accessing the Kettle #1 and Kettle #2 platform area. The platform contained a 24-inch by 28-inch opening at the step up platform between kettle #1 and kettle #2.
