29 CFR 1910.1026(d)(2)(i): The employer failed to perform initial monitoring to determine the 8-hour TWA exposure for each employee on the basis of a sufficient number of personal breathing zone air samples to accurately characterize full shift exposure on each shift, for each job classification, in each work area. The employer failed to perform 8-hour time-weighted average air sampling to quantify employee exposure during welding activities involving stainless steel. 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1):Employees were not provided information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard was introduced into their work area. The employer was failing to protect employees from chemical hazards. These conditions were most recently observed on September 20, 2023 at 3340 North 33rd Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. The following but not limited to instances of this violative condition were documented. a) The employer failed to ensure employees involved in powder-coating activities were provided training on hazardous chemicals in the powder used for powder-coating. b) The employer failed to ensure employees involved in welding activities were provided adequate training on hazardous chemicals in their work area. Employees were not made aware of the hazards of welding fumes.
