Unmounted fire extinguisher(s) may cause a delayed response and/or inability to locate during an emergency. This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to fire and/or smoke inhalation hazards.

29 CFR  1910.334(a)(1): Flexible electric cords were fastened with staples or otherwise hung in such a fashion as could damage the outer jacket or insulation:  Front line next to Humidor: On and/or before, October 3, 2023, employee(s) would use a Lasko Cyclone fan to circulate air in the area. The fan was connected to a relocatable power tap and an orange extension cord that was fastened with metal nails and hung on the white wall. Employee(s) were potentially exposed to electrical and/or fire hazard(s).

The Lasko fan was plugged into a relocatable power tap and was not used according to listing and/or labeling instructions. This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to electrical shock and/or fire hazard(s).  The Navy Exchange was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1629994, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on October 19, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at Building 19 stop, Ridgecrest, CA 93555.
