29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access: (a) On or about June 12, 2024, employees roofing a house using a Werner aluminum extension ladder placed at the Northeast side of the house without its side rails at least 3 feet above the roofline; were exposed to falls while accessing and egressing the roof. Faustino Mendez was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.1053(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1654570, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on April 17, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 708 Golden Oak Park, Alvarado, Texas 76009.
