1910.30(a)(1) (a) Fall hazards. (1) Before any employee is exposed to a fall hazard, the employer must provide training for each employee who uses personal fall protection systems or who is required to be trained as specified elsewhere in this subpart. Employers must ensure employees are trained in the requirements of this paragraph on or before May 17, 2017. 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(13)(ii): The employer did not ensure that when work is performed at least 6 feet (1.6 m) but less than 15 feet (4.6 m) from the roof edge, each employee is protected from falling by using a guardrail system, safety net system, travel restraint system, or personal fall arrest system. The employer may use a designated area when performing work that is both infrequent and temporary. On or about July 2, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees accessing the North side of the Freezer Warehouse Roof were protected from fall hazards greater than 25 feet by a fall protection system or by use of a designated area.
