29 CFR  1910.334(a)(2)(i): Portable cord and plug connected equipment and flexible cord sets (extension cords) were not visually inspected before use on any shift for external defects (such as loose parts, deformed and missing pins, or damage to outer jacket or insulation) and for evidence of possible internal damage (such as pinched or crushed outer jacket).  Mechanic Shop, Middle-End, Bldg. 3122: On and/or before July 9, 2024, employee(s) used a red extension cord and a SPX Robinair A/C Machine to plug car lights, recover, recycle, perform leak tests and recharge vehicle system(s). The red extension cord and the SPX Robinair A/C Machine was not visually inspected for exposed wiring. This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to electrical shock and/or fire hazards.

Mechanic Shop, North-End, Bldg. 3122: On and/or before July 9, 2024, the employer did not ensure at least 3 feet in front of the electrical panel was clear. The electrical panel had a Model 90 Aqueous parts washer obstructing the electrical panel. This condition interferes with access and immediate shutdown of a circuit in the panel, particularly in the event of an emergency. This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to electrical shock and/or fire hazard(s).  Navy Exchange Car Care Center was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1722872, citation number 2, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on April 04, 2024, with respect to a workplace located at 484 Exchange Avenue, San Diego, CA 92135.
