On or about August 28, 2024 an employee incurred burns during operation(s) involving service of boiler steam exhaust valve silencer(s), where they were not wearing PPE for suitable thermal barrier protection from steam pipe contact and/or splashes of hot water.

29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment: (a) 47 Colonial Drive Piscataway NJ 08854 On or about August 28, 2024, the employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present necessitating personal protective equipment for boiler operations, including but not limited to exterior steam piping and exhaust silencers. On 8/28/2024, a boiler operator incurred burns during operation(s) involving service of boiler steam exhaust valve silencer(s), where they were not wearing PPE for suitable thermal barrier protection from steam pipe contact and/or splashes of hot water.
