29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2):  Guard(s) on machine(s) were not affixed to the machine or secured elsewhere when attachment to the machine was not possible:  a) On or about September 12, 2024, the employer did not ensure that effective machine guarding was in place on both the G and U mills located in the facility. Both lines contained ingoing nip points of the wire feeding apparatus which did not contain effective machine guarding. Barrier guarding was not in place or was not affixed in position. Hinged covers allowed for easy access to moving machine components during operations.   b) On or about September 12, 2024, the employer did not ensure that effective machine guarding was in place on the drum packers.  Barrier guarding was either not in place or present to protect employees from either the rotation of the drum pedestal or the ingoing nip point of the intake winder wheel.   c) On or about September 12, 2024, the employer did not ensure that effective machine guarding was in place on the small wire winder/ bundler. (chub) Employees routinely open the barrier guard to start and remove product from the equipment as needed. The hinged door does not contain an interlock mechanism to protect employees during these times.   Liberty Steel Holdings USA, DBA Solon Specialty Wire Co.  was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard,  29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1636863, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on February 27, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 30000 Solon Road, Solon, OH.  Liberty Steel Holdings USA, DBA Solon Specialty Wire Co.  was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard,  29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1498515, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on December 10, 2020, with respect to a workplace located at 30000 Solon Rd., Solon, Ohio.
